Sociology

Sociology is the study of society using research methods such as questionnaires, interviews and observation. Students are enjoying using these methods to conduct their own research. They have carried out research on topics such as; whether people act differently in front of different people, whether people are more likely to communicate through social networking than face to face and whether everyone has the same values on family life. Thank you to all those who have taken part as participants and / or respondents.

Students have been taught using a variety of techniques this term including; playing a board game similar to the ‘Game of Life’ to understand different people’s life opportunities, dressing up as a famous sociologist to attend a tea party to discuss sociological topics and having debates about the different perspectives.
