During this academic year we will be organising many activities to ensure that the transition from primary to secondary school is a smooth one.

Below is a summary of what we do

  • Holyrood SEND team will begin visits to primary schools in October to understand the range of needs of children coming to us in September 2022.
  • Our primary transition co-ordinator, Mrs Rose, will begin work in all primary schools from January 2022.
  • Mrs Davison, Mrs Rose and SEND staff will meet with all Year 6 staff from March to find out full details of student’s abilities and needs.
  • For those students who are the only student coming from a primary school, we have ‘Onsie’ day to meet all the other single children coming from individual schools in June.
  • All information about the new year 7 team will be online from mid-June.
  • Our planned transition days are on 6th and 7th of July 2022
  • There will be a meet the tutor evening for year 6 parents on the evening of the 6th July 2022
  • Summer school will run for a week in the Summer holidays.
  • It is our intention to have a year 7 only day as the first day in September.
  • Mrs Rose will be with the year 7 students until December 2022
