Meet the SEND Team

Laura Gold
I am the SENDCo at Holyrood Academy and I am also an English teacher. I have been at Holyrood as a member of staff for 14 years, coordinating provision for students with special educational needs for 5 of those. I was also a student here many years ago! When I'm not at work, I enjoy pottering in my garden and going to the beach with my 4 children and our sausage dog.

Sue Watson
I am the Deputy SENDCo at Holyrood Academy. I have worked here for 8 years and before that I worked at Avishayes Primary School for 16 Years in the Learning Support team. I have been very privileged to work with many families and students throughout the years and have been able to support them on their journey from Primary to Secondary and then onto further education with great success. When I am not at work I enjoy walking my dog, running and camping.

Ann Richards
I am a Teaching Assistant at Holyrood and have worked here for 10 years. I help to coordinate our Nurture facility as well as run our Forest School provision. I am also an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. When I am at home I love to cook and I also have 2 gorgeously mad Springer Spaniels who just love going for long walks, preferably near water!

Alison Rawlins
I have worked at Holyrood for 16 years and I am now a Teaching Assistant and a keyworker for students with a physical or sensory need. I am also a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh assessor, which is something you will be able to participate in further up the school. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, gardening and walking especially along the coast.

Lorraine Charles
I have been a Teaching Assistant here at Holyrood Academy for 13 years, and am also an ELSA Coordinator. When not at work, I like to spend time with my family, and visit National Trust properties learning about the history and lives of people that once lived there. I also enjoy walking, especially along the coast.

Kay Hollick
I hope you are all looking forward to a new adventure at Holyrood. I have been a Teaching Assistant since 2009 and have spent the last 3 and a half years at Holyrood Academy. Part of my role is Forest School Assistant, which I love! I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, listening to music, dancing and growing fruit and vegetables.

Rebecca Parkes
I have been a Teaching Assistant for 5 years in a multitude of different places. Before Holyrood I worked for the Pauline Quirke Academy, teaching students how to direct and shoot their own films. I have been at Holyrood for 2 years now, but before this I studied Film and Television Production, directing films and making small videos. When I'm not at work here, I work as a semi-professional Voice Actor. Projects I have been a part of include Skywind (TES Renewal project), Darkest Dungeon Lore and Odyssey of the Dragonborn. I also have my own YouTube channel where I create audio-dramas of the Throne of Glass series.

Sam Lawrence
I am a Teaching Assistant at Holyrood Academy and have worked here for nearly 2 years. Before joining the team at Holyrood, I spent 15 years supporting students as an Assistant SENCo at a local primary school. Spending time with my husband and our two grown ups sons is my most favourite thing to do in my spare time but I also enjoy running, cycling, walking and going away in our campervan.

Nicki Williams
I am a Teaching Assistant and have been a member of staff at Holyrood Academy for nearly a year after moving down to Somerset with my family from Bedfordshire. My last school was a middle school where I worked as a Higher Learning Teaching Assistant in Maths. I enjoy reading and walking my dog in the beautiful countryside down here.

Hollie Coles
I am a Teaching Assistant, Exam Access Coordinator and a Tutor. I was a student here at Holyrood and decided to come back to work here as I enjoyed the experience so much! When I'm not in work I enjoy crafting and painting with my kids and sneaking in some gaming when I have the chance.

Roger Kinsella I am a Teaching Assistant at Holyrood and have recently come into this profession from RADAR and missile engineering as a civilian and Royal Navy. When I'm not at work I enjoy having adventures in the woods with my 2 kids, camping and computing.
