Staff are available Monday - Thursday 3.10pm - 4:20pm to specifically help and support with homework.
The Learning Centre has over 15,000 items in stock! There are sofas and bean bags to relax on to read books, magazines and newspapers.
Fiction is arranged by author surname or by genre (type of book e.g. horror, animal story etc.). Non-fiction is arranged by numbering on the spines of books, known as the Dewey decimal classification Scheme.
There are also DVDs to borrow (subject to age restrictions) along with books on CD.
There are 35 PCs with Internet access.
The Learning Centre has two height-adjustable tables for wheelchair users.
Students may borrow up to 3 items
Books are issued for 4 weeks
DVDs are issued for one week
Only one DVD can be borrowed at a time
CDs are issued for one week.
The Learning Centre recruits Student Librarians to help at break and lunch times. To become a Student Librarian, students must complete an application form, pass an interview and also a one month probation period. In return, the Student Librarian team has a budget of £100 to buy resources of their choice for the Learning Centre.
