On Friday 3rd July, Mr Owen Locker from Holyrood Academy’s Maths Department, hosted the Holyrood Maths Challenge for local primary schools.
Each school was invited to send a team of four pupils to compete against the other primaries attending and this year teams from Redstart, Tatworth, Winsham and Manor Court all arrived ready for some brain-challenging conundrums. All pupils participated well and should be extremely proud of their efforts, but after some fierce competition and expert tackling of mind-boggling equations, Manor Court was triumphant in the 2015 Challenge!
Mr Locker enthused, “This has been a brilliant afternoon with lots of top Maths going on. It was a hard-fought victory for Manor Court but a most well-deserved win! I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and am already excited at the level of mathematical ability in our feeder primary schools. There will be more Challenges like these next year and I am looking forward to encountering even more brilliant mathematical minds from the area! ”
