Farewell Mr Gitsham - We Will Miss You!

Farewell Mr Gitsham - We Will Miss You!

Today, Friday 17th July, marks a memorable day in Holyrood history. Physics teacher, Mr Alan Gitsham, leaves us after 38 years of dedicated teaching in the Science department. Many of you will remember Mr Gitsham as he has taught existing staff, parents and even grandparents of our current students after joining Holyrood Community School in 1977!

Mr Gitsham has been a much-loved and well-respected member of staff at Holyrood and we are all sorry he will no longer be an everyday feature of our school. He intends to take a well-earned break and to finally have more time to spend with his wife Mu, and to finally listen to his vast music collection.

On his departure, Mr Gitsham said, "It is testament to the 38 years I have been here as to how much I have enjoyed my teaching career. Working at Holyrood has always been brilliant and I feel priveleged to have been part of the changes, development and progress that the Academy has undergone. I shall miss school-life enormously but am looking forward to a rest! Thank you to all students, staff and parents who have wished me well in my retirement."
