Message from Lorraine Heath, CEO - 20th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

As you know, by the end of the day schools will be closing for everyone but the children of key workers or those who have EHCPs or have other vulnerabilities. If your child falls into one of these categories, we will be delighted to look after them so that you can continue your essential work.

I just wanted to get in touch to pay tribute to all of the staff at Holyrood and express my gratitude for the incredible efforts that they have put in over the last few days to respond to the changing situations and make provision both to look after some children in school and provide work and home learning activities for those who won’t be attending. I have been in daily contact with Mr MacCormick and I have been enormously impressed with his calmness, clear sightedness and desire to do everything possible to support children, young people and staff through these very challenging times. It is very clear to me how much he cares about your children and the communities which we all serve.

It has also become increasingly apparent that working together as a family of schools has huge benefits with all the Headteachers of our four schools able to collaborate in making their plans and supporting one another.

There is still much that we don’t know, not least when we will be open again for business as usual. We hope to find out today how the qualifications for our examination groups will be awarded and as soon as this information is released we will let you know. Year 11 and 13 will also get their celebrations when we are able to put them together.

We aim to keep in touch with all of the students over the coming weeks, either by telephone or email. We have given them advice on looking after themselves and hope very much that they keep up with their studies, manage to get some physical exercise, sleep and stay healthy. All of this will make the transition back into school easier when it does eventually happen.

Tutors, teachers and senior leaders are all very happy to be contacted if you have questions or concerns about your children. Websites will be updated regularly and we want to help as much as we can, however we can.

I very much look forward to being able to write again to welcome everyone back to school when we are in a position to reopen.

Yours faithfully

Mrs L Heath
