Welcome from the Acting Head of Sixth Form

Welcome from the Acting Head of Sixth Form

I am delighted to introduce myself to parents and students as the Acting Head of Sixth Form for the academic year 2021-22 while Mrs Challis is on maternity leave. I am hugely excited by the prospect of working with our Sixth Form students to develop their academic skills, but also their extracurricular opportunities and interests, and those all important interpersonal and ‘transferable’ that employers and Higher Education institutions regard as so vital.

Your success and happiness are our number one priorities and as such, we will challenge and support you at every stage of your journey through our Sixth Form. Whether you wish to secure an apprenticeship, employment or a university place, all are equally valued and we will work with you to ensure that you achieve your goals.

We are extremely ambitious at Holyrood Sixth Form and we are all striving for excellence. We are absolutely committed to helping you to stand out against thousands of other young people. We do this by ensuring that you achieve the best possible grades, by allowing you opportunities to give something back to your school and wider community through our volunteering and enrichment programmes and by providing you with life skills and experiences through LLP.

From September, it is my intention to offer a range of academic support sessions, clubs and activities after school in the Sixth Form to those students who wish to extend their school day. They will be able to take advantage of the care and support we are able to offer beyond the classroom environment. I know how important this is in developing the confidence and resilience of our young people: this programme will help them to enter the wider world knowing they can achieve their ambitions. It is my privilege to be a part of their personal journeys

There are difficult stages in any Sixth Form journey, but when you receive your results and look back, it will all have been worth it. In order to overcome these difficulties and achieve your best, we ask for 3 things:

Commit to your studies
Take advantage of the opportunities offered
Aim high

We believe in you.
